Located along the scenic 'Mogollon Rim' at the southwest base of the Colorado Plateau, 'The Rim', as it is often called, is within the confluence
of four national forests comprised of the Tonto to the south, the Coconino to the north, the Prescott to the west, and the Apache-Sitgreaves to the east. The central part of 'Rim Country' lies mostly within the northern part of Gila County which is a diverse geographical region of 4,748 square miles with approximately 52,000 residents. There are several communities within Gila County with the largest being Payson in the north, and Globe to the south. Gila County’s terrain ranges from high mountains to low desert, all of which can be reached by vehicle within a matter of a few hours. Gila County attracts many people for its wide range of recreational activities, including: fishing, boating, horseback/trail riding, hiking, skiing, hunting, biking, rock climbing, and many more. You can also visit several historical sites such
as the Tonto Natural Bridge, Tonto National Monument, Beshba-Gawaah Museum, Zane Grey Museum, and many more. Gila County is the home
to the Tonto National Forest, Roosevelt Lake, the Mogollon Rim and several other lakes, wilderness areas and recreational areas. Within Gila County
are four major Indian Reservations; Fort Apache Reservation, the San Carlos Apache Reservation, the White Mountain Apache Reservation, and the
Tonto Apache Reservation, all with their own Casino’s, Hotels and other recreational activities. Gila County is a growing community that is fast becoming a favorite residential community as it is centrally located in Arizona and is the gateway to many other well known locations in Arizona.
